1) It's A Wonderful Life - about being thankful for what you have and appreciating life.
2) Gone With The Wind - about the struggles of the Civil War and the determination to pick yourself up again.
3) The Godfather - details the inner workings of the Italian mob scene in 1940s New York.
4) Schindler's List - beautifully and respectfully depicts the horrendous plight of the Jewish people during WW2, many of whom were saved by the conversion of one Oskar Schindler.
5) Casablanca - "Filmed and set during World War II, it focuses on an American expatriate who must choose between his love for a woman and helping her and her husband, a Czech resistance leader, escape from the Vichy-controlled city of Casablanca to continue his fight against the Germans." 6) Citizen Kane - inspired by real life newspaper mogul William Randolph Hearst, this movie follows a reporter who investigates what Kane's deathbed word "rosebud" means by interviewing his former business partners, friends and lovers.
7) Psycho - the classic and best of Alfred Hitchcock's films, Psycho is the story of a woman who steals money, goes to hide at a motel and ends up murdered by the lunatic who runs the place. The woman's lover and sister go to find her only to find a disturbed and murderous motel owner with severe mommy problems.
8) Life Is Beautiful - a comedic sweet but sad film that shows a father who will do anything to save his son.
9) To Kill A Mockingbird - highly praised film based on a novel that depicts race relations and one man's conviction to do the right thing in 1930s Alabama.

15) Amadeus - hilarious and likely inaccurate depiction of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, the film shows Mozart's rapid ascent from child prodigy to court composer for the King in the late 1700s. Meanwhile Mozart's rival, Salieri, struggles to prove he is the better composer, but Mozart is just too good and doesn't even realize Salieri is jealous. Salieri is so distraught he sets up Mozart for a terrible and untimely death.
16) The Shining - based on Stephen King's novel, this horror film follows a family who stays at a hotel they don't know is haunted while the father manages the property during its off season.
17) The Man Who Knew Too Much - another masterpiece from Hitchcock, this film follows a couple whose child gets taken while on a vacation in Morocco. They must find their son before it's too late.
18) Rebel Without A Cause - stellar performance by James Dean who plays the main character, a troubled high-schooler who can't keep his nose clean even in a new town.
19) The Graduate - set in 1960's America, recent college graduate Ben feels bored and confused with what to do with his life. Immediately after his graduation party, the lonely and bored housewife next door, Mrs. Robinson, seduces him and they begin a secret affair. The only issue is that Ben eventually falls in love with her daughter which she expressly told him not to do.
20) A League of Their Own - based on the true story of a women's baseball team in a WW2 1940s-era America, the film follows closely the relationship between two sisters on the team, one who is better than the other, and together the whole team experiences the struggles and laughs of life, love and baseball.
