1)  Warm Springs, Georgia - FDR spent a lot of time here swimming in the warm natural waters that helped polio victims like himself exercise and relax. The house he stayed in is here to visit as well. 

2) St. Augustine, Florida - it's the oldest city in the U.S.!

3) Newport, Rhode Island - home to dozens of mansions you can tour like Rosecliff, The Breakers, The Elms, Marble House and for sports fans, the International Tennis Hall of Fame.

4) Jefferson County, Virginia - if you know the show The Waltons, then you must stop here to visit the Walton's Mountain Museum!

5) Tahlequah, Oklahoma - located at the foothills of the Ozark Mountains, it's home to the Cherokee Heritage Center and tons of other cool Native American historical landmarks. See reenacted history of the daily lives of Cherokee Indians!

6) Apostle Islands, Wisconsin - visit this group of 22 completely uninhabited islands for a day trip and picnic, bird-watch, hike, explore sea caves and take a refreshing lake dip in Lake Superior.

7) Virginia City, Montana - this is a historically accurate and well-preserved Old West town! You can take ghost tours, go fly fishing, ride horses and check out historical museums all in this one town with lodging, dining and entertainment all in the Old West style!

8) Hamilton Pool Preserve, Texas - "A scenic natural swimming pool in a canyon below a 50-ft waterfall, surrounded by a grotto" (Google). Plus you're pretty close to Austin if you need a big city feel!

9) McCall, Idaho - hiking, fishing, kayaking, rafting, zip-lining, off-roading, picnicking

10) Pigeon Forge, Tennessee - home of Dollywood! Visit Dollywood, hike the Smoky Mountains, play mini-golf and interactive and fun museums to visit!!
